The Birth of Crypto Valley (2013–2018) — conclusion

Conclusion of Chapter I

Crypto Valley was born between 2013 and 2018, beginning with the foundation of Bitcoin Suisse in 2013 and of the Ethereum Foundation in 2014. The town of Zug accepted Bitcoin for small payments in 2016, a year before the Crypto Valley Association was founded in 2017. The ICO boom of 2017 brought hundreds of millions to projects in the canton and ended with the Tezos dispute and the collapse of prices in 2018. The cluster grew out of the canton's older model, which combined low taxes, pragmatic authorities, professional services and an English-speaking environment. Its early years were marked by legal uncertainty, by the reluctance of banks and by projects of uneven quality. Chapter II follows the regulation and maturing of the industry after 2018.
