Statistical reference tables — overview and summary

The tables that follow bring together the principal figures cited in the book, with their reference date and their source. They distinguish official data, drawn from the statistical offices, the authorities and the umbrella organisations, from estimates and data from private studies. Each figure refers to the chapter in which it is discussed; there the reader will find the methodological reservations that accompany it, in particular for the weight of commodity trading, where two official measures differ by a factor of three, and for the Francophonie, whose definitions have changed between reports. The figures are those available in September 2026.
