Checklist: offering sustainable investments without promising the undemonstrable

  • Define the sustainability approaches on offer, from exclusion to impact, and then describe them in terms the client understands.
  • Ascertain and document clients’ sustainability preferences in accordance with the Swiss Bankers Association’s self-regulation, and take them into account in recommendations.
  • Classify products according to the Asset Management Association’s self-regulation and, for distribution in the Union, according to the European disclosure regulation.
  • Publish the Swiss Climate Scores or equivalent indicators for portfolios and funds, together with the methods and their limitations.
  • Verify every sustainability claim before publication, retain the evidence and submit marketing documents to compliance.
  • Analyse physical and transition climate risks in portfolios and loans, including in trade finance.
  • Measure and have verified the impact of investments that claim it, and distinguish demonstrated impact from hoped-for impact.
  • Monitor the development of the Swiss and European frameworks and anticipate the convergence of reporting obligations.
