Checklist: assessing the reputational capital of a financial centre

  • Identify the institutions, events and traditions that contribute to the image of the financial centre, and measure how they are perceived by the target clientele.
  • Verify the consistency between this image and the actual practices of the financial actors, since any gap between the two constitutes a reputational risk.
  • Take stock of the international networks present in the financial centre and their usefulness for business development.
  • Assess the skills developed by local institutions and how well they match the needs of the financial centre.
  • Anticipate the criticisms that international institutions and civil society may direct at the financial centre, and prepare fact-based responses.
  • Measure the extent to which the image of the financial centre depends on the international order and on decisions taken by external actors.
